This is a synopsis of the first Corpse Party game which this OVA is based off of, taken directly from Wikipedia...no story spoilers really, it's just an innocent and succinct synopsis of the circumstance, but spoiler box'd just in case.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Personally, I am ridiculously excited for the July release. Not only am I a huge fan of supernatural horror (and I feel that it is largely quite infrequent in anime unfortunately), but I absolutely love the game. I'm still working my way through Book of Shadows actually!

They are clearly going to capitalize on the gore...if the trailer is any indication...but I think that fully uncensored shock-fest is going to make this OVA great, and really set it apart from any horror anime that has come before it (not many).

What do you guys think? Excited? Impressions? Aaaaah! I'm wiggin' out here!

I was very surprised that the OVA was as graphic as it was. It's often the case that the anime gets toned down from the source material. I'm pleased they didn't wuss out in that respect.

And yes, I'm really excited about it. I need to finish the games too.

I've read bits of the manga and enjoyed it so looking forward to this. I haven't played the games yet though.

just saying if it were to get a tv anime it would be so extremely censored it would lose its awesomeness... i would rather have 13-26 episode ova series

I am horribly excited, as a past fan of the game series, I can't wait for this to come out.

To be honest I'm not really huge in to gore. I watched the first OVA (Missing footage) for corpse party and found myself cringing and making contorted faces for the first 4-5 minutes or so of it. It makes me pretty uncomfortable.

Yet I can't describe why I want to see more. It must be that weird hypnotic element of violence at work.

As a horrid and grotesque back story, there's a certain thirst for some kind of resolution I suppose. While the horrors of said past will never be rewritten, I cheer on my anime heroes in wanting to conclude the mystery.

I just really love the supernatural j-horror genre. The creepy little girls, the curses, the solving of said curses. Ironically it scares me to bits and I would never want to actually experience such things, haha. I'm just blabbing anyway...

Good to see this series getting anime, but I reiterate that anybody who likes to be scared should play the games (and, if at all possible, play them before watching this to get a full appreciation for both).

Of course the original source material is better (The game and its sequel)

Anime and horror just don't mix. I mean I'm happy it got and is still getting a anime adaptation but the game is still better. By a long shot

Yeah, I disagree entirely.

There's nothing stopping anime from incorporating great horror. I think anime is actually more well equipped as a medium to show great horror than live action film is. Especially when it comes to the j-horror type stuff...

The game is great...but at its core it is an interactive virtual novel with great voice acting, which naturally converts quite easily in to an anime.

Have you played both Corpse Party:Blood Covered and Corpse Party:Book Of Shadows or just Book Of Shadows? Because Blood covered is far from a "interactive virtual novel"

Making something insanely gory isn't scary. It just makes it grotesque. Blood covered actually covered horror with the music, setting and plot. Taking control of the characters as you walk aimlessly through school trying to find a way out, being chased by ghosts and other such things and being scared of the fact that if you read the wrong thing you WILL die. That is how the game captured horror.

Gore bores me, it isn't interesting in the slightest and normally is used in place of actual substance. Think of modern horror films vs older ones that don't use gore heavily.
