This show is so terrible. The Animation isn't fluid, the character design is lacking to say the least. The voice acting is terrible and the story is the worst mess of stereotypes and over the top writing I have ever seen. I can't see how this past the test in Japan and was allowed to be aired.

As far as I understand, this is a six episode series, so they seem to have just decided to launch it at a different time than the regular broadcast season premier week.

Aha, so you'll flip-flop like a flounder on the pier if it turns out that you were forming your opinion not only ridiculously early but also turned out to have been jumping to the 100% wrong conclusion. How generous!

Just to be clear, I am not making fun of you for stating your opinion, I am making fun of how absurdly prematurely you form your opinion. Except for people who's season is made by the three already announced, forming an opinion of the season at this point is point and laugh funny.

As far as preferring the zombie show and the rehash of Eureka and Saki to this classic old-school SF anime ... well, there's no accounting for tastes. That's the advantage of Crunchyroll's "try to get them all, take whatever is offered" approach.

Is it better to remain a quiet individual and not state an opinion until I know all the facts? It becomes a fact then, not an opinion. An opinion is something you form at the current moment, not an educated thought process. For example: My opinion of calculus is it is difficult. Do I know everything that is calculus? No, but what I do know is what I form my opinion over. I am just one person who will clearly state my opinion regardless or not if I "flip-flop." I flip-flop very frequently and I like to hear new things that changes my opinions on matters. Does these three anime signify a terrible season for a fact? No. Does it signify a terrible start to the season? Yes. Is that a fact? No, but for me it is my opinion.

I'm still hoping that they'll make some announcement that will give some hope in countries outside the North and South America, the UK & Northern Europe and Australia/NZ , where most of the licenses in the past two seasons were focused. It was great news for international members in the lucky territories that Crunchyroll could get sublicenses that were not locked into North America alone ... but outside of those territories, it was pretty slim pickings.

Plus with four science fiction series coming up, its a good sign for SF fans that Crunchyroll got this classic SF "broadcast OVA", even though a different streaming site was already in the production committee.

No, I am just expressing my opinion that its better to hold off on forming an opinion when it can't possibly be well informed.

It becomes a fact then, not an opinion.

Nope, whether or not CR got a good or a bad mix of the shows available will always be an opinion, because some people like some things and some people like another. Waiting until half or more of the series have been revealed won't turn it into a fact. It will just turn it into an opinion with some foundation in fact.

(Unless Crunchyroll got them all, in which case its an opinion on the mix of anime broadcast in Japan.)

Different people like different things, so its still an opinion on how good the season is, even if you wait until, say, halfway through the announcement week to form it.

Yes, and my opinion of your reaching a negative opinion about a season that is not going to start for a couple of weeks and obviously has over two thirds of its series not yet announced ... in response to a short series that is not really part of the normal Spring 2012 lineup ~ was (and is) that it reveals that you form opinions on how a season is shaping up absurdly early.

But I am not complaining about you expressing the opinion. It was good for a chuckle.

That seems unlikely, and unnecessarily negative.

I watched the first episode last night, and while I enjoyed it, I can certainly see why others, who aren't as familiar with Leiji Matsumoto, might not.

Yeah, its a treat for fans of Galaxy Express 999 and Captain Harlock (both available here). By ratings, a majority of members never look at the old school catalog titles, but for people who don't like science fiction or old school anime, the obvious solution is don't watch it.

Anyway, with four SF anime in the coming season, the odds of Crunchyroll failing to get all four seems awfully low. So we can be reasonably confident there will be at least one.

just watched the first ep......... I LOVE IT!!!!!! i really miss the old fashioned style that anime use to have. The quirky look really does bring back memories and the story line has already pierced my interest.
