Asians are not the only ones in the community having problems with excessive amounts of pride, you have people in the "Black" community who put emphasis on a lot of things that go overboard or simply RIDICULOUS EX. "Kiss my Black ass" BET ( Black entertainment television) or to discribe someone who is mixed Asian, Black inese.

Yep. I agree 100% with this hair dyeing thing. I mean, brown is ok; it softens the facial features, but I swear, I see the longer, shiny black hair on ANY branch of the Asian community, and I almost drool. No, I'm not gay, but even on females, the longer, black hair is breath taking.
Oh, and about the small/average penis size.....wasn't quite true about the Vietnamese guy I once dated.....

I get where you're coming from. I mean, I'm not Asian--I'm Hispanic, and well, there's a lot of that whole pride crap going on with Hispanics too.
I hate seeing Hispanics carrying their flag around all day. Like, seriously, back in High School, there used to be this Puerto Rican kid who wore shirts with the Puerto Rican flag, and his backpack had a huge Puerto Rican flag painted on it, and it was covered in pins related to Puerto Rico, and his jewelry had it...you get the picture.

He was always rubbing it in people's faces that he was Puerto Rican. He wasn't actually racist, but he always treated Hispanics (esp. Puerto Ricans) with the most respect.
Like he used to ignore me and even make mean faces at me until one day he found out I was Hispanic. It was so stupid. He started saying hi and stuff to me

Everytime he would speak to anyone non-Hispanic, he would speak normally. Every once in awhile he would act all "Oh, I'm the Puerto Rican kid here", but he basically acted normally (like a "Puerto Rican American"). But then if someone Hispanic was in the room, all a sudden his English got bad and he would start saying random Spanish words and acting like he just got to America or something. ugh

I hate it when people start putting themselves down this way, you know? Just for the stupid pride shit

About the hair, most Hispanics are constantly dying their hair blonde or brown. I think it's stupid, but, like most people have been saying, let people do whatever they want to do.
All I think is stupid is when people dye their hair no matter what. I mean, not everyone looks good with blonde or brown hair (the same when people dye their hair black or any other color). And I hate it when people who aren't White start critizing White people when they want to look/be just like a White person (and vice versa)

I guess in a way I can see what you mean, but there's nothing wrong about being over zealous about your culture. It's like African American's using the "N" word or Australia using the word "aussis. True that being Asian doesn't make you special but it's just their way of praising who they are. Expect for the ones that are only Asian by ethnicity, the ones you mentioned that don't even celebrate Asian holidays or can even speak an Asian language, those are the ones who REALLY need to reexamine themselves. I never gave it much though until this thread came up. Interesting insight on everyday small things always are fun to talk about @;-D
